Day Five: At Sea – this was a relaxing day crossing from Barcelona to Rome, crossing between the islands of Sardina and Corsica right after sunset.ome.
Day Six: Cevitavechia and Rome – we got off the train at the wrong stop, but it was a happy mistake. Ended up at the Vatican before the Pope’s Christmas Day address, but early enough to visit St. Peter’s Basilica. It was beautiful, and the choir was singing for an early mass. We made it just before they closed it off to prepare for the Pope’s arrival. The rest of the day was a mad dash to see as much as we could and leave in time for the 1 hour train ride back to port. So much history in Rome. The stories, like the sites, are built on top of one another throughout so much history.
